Contained Distress by Eberta Sulistyaningrum

After seeing Picasso's Femme en pleurs at the Tate Modern, Eberta was deeply affected by its themes of suffering and loss, later deciding to draw upon that catharsis to create Contained Distress. Her reimagination of Picasso's painting uses tribal masks and tattoos from the Dayak tribes of Borneo, whose people are known for their fearless ability to overcome challenges that come their way.

Artist Bio:

Eberta is an Indonesian artist who expresses herself by experimenting with different styles of digital illustration. She is particularly drawn to the idea of illustrating common objects by breaking their rules of shapes, textures, and colours.
