In this homage to Johannes Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring, the artist aims to draw parallels between two diverse art forms—the art of drag and classical painting. She reimagines the girl as the drag queen, Brigiding. While Vermeer's subject exuded simplicity with a bare face, straightforward attire, and covered hair, Brigiding embraces the extravagant, free, and over-the-top nature of drag; symbolising the boundless possibilities of self-expression. The piece also aims to explore the diversity of themes in art and beauty.

Artist Bio:

Ennuh Tiu, a Filipina conceptual, fashion, and portrait photographer, began her artistic journey with analog photography, which has now become the core visual language of her work—often using a play of colours to exude that analog charm. Through a diaristic and stream of consciousness approach, she explores themes of self-discovery, identity, and personal relationships. She also delves into documenting the mundane in an attempt to transform it into captivating narratives; inviting viewers into a realm of visual introspection.
