Halik, meaning "kiss" in Filipino, references Gustav Klimt's The Kiss—an iconic portrait of love. This artwork depicts a pre-colonial Filipino couple interlocked in a romantic embrace; their brown skin stark against the golden hazy backdrop. A golden cloak protects and engulfs them, a symbol of their love, as sampaguita flowers float along the meadow.
