Taking its name from pares, a Filipino braised beef dish, this piece depicts a typical scene of taxi, jeepney and tricycle drivers enjoying this hearty meal after a long and exhausting day of work on the busy streets of Manila. In parallel with Edward Hopper’s Chop Suey, this piece also highlights the progressing role of women across all sectors, including the transportation workforce in the country.
